Meowdoku – When Cats Turn a Logic Puzzle into a Relaxing Game

There are days when I don't feel like playing action games or engaging in tense battles. At times like those, games that focus on thinking become a more pleasant choice. Meowdoku is one such game.

At first glance, the game looks quite simple. The board is divided into various zones and features adorable cat icons. But don't let its gentle appearance fool you; just a few levels in, you realize the game requires more keen observation than you might expect.

Basic Gameplay

Your task is to find the right spots for the cats on the board.

Each zone contains only one cat.

Each row and column must also contain only one cat.

Additionally, no two cats can be placed next to each other. This rule adds to the game's difficulty—and it was the one I most often forgot when I first started playing.

Controls

The controls are very simple.

  • On a computer, you just use your mouse to select a cell and mark a position.
  • If playing on a phone, everything is done by tapping the screen.

There aren't many buttons or complex features, so there is virtually no learning curve.

A Small Tip I Often Use

When I encounter a difficult level, I don't try to solve the entire board at once.

Instead, I look for the zones with the fewest cells. The fewer options there are, the easier it is to determine the correct placement. Once the first few zones are completed, the rest usually becomes clearer.

This approach doesn't always lead to an immediate solution, but at least it helps avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Why is Meowdoku great for relaxation?

Perhaps because the game creates no pressure.

No one is rushing you to finish within a specific time limit. No flashy effects or constant pop-up rewards are cluttering the screen.

You can take a moment to think, place a cat, and then simply observe. The pace is pleasantly relaxed—perfect for unwinding after work or study.

Conclusion

Meowdoku isn't the kind of game that hooks players with non-stop action. Its appeal lies in its bite-sized puzzles and the satisfaction of solving them through your own reasoning.

If you enjoy logic games but want something more laid-back than traditional Sudoku, Meowdoku is well worth a try. After just a few minutes of getting the hang of it, you’ll understand why so many players—who initially intended to play just one level—find themselves coming back for round after round.
