Robber Run – Intended as a Trial Play, But I Played It for Quite a Long Time

I opened Robber Run while looking for a light game to kill time. Honestly, I didn't think I'd play it for long. At first glance, it seemed like a familiar obstacle course game.

The character rushes forward, and the player controls it to avoid collisions and try to maintain the escape for as long as possible. The rules are so simple that they almost don't need instructions.

But the more I played, the faster the game became. The gaps in the track gradually decreased. Sometimes, just as I dodged one obstacle, another appeared right in front of me. Everything happened quite quickly.

What I remember most isn't the high scores, but the very unfortunate failures. There were times I was only a few meters away from surpassing my previous record. There were times I crashed into an obstacle just because I glanced away for a brief moment.

Perhaps that's why Robber Run makes me want to play it again. At the end of a level, players often think they could have done better if they tried again.

Regarding controls

The game is quite easy to get used to:

  • Move using the WADS keys for navigation.
  • Avoid obstacles that appear on the path.
  • Collect items when opportunities arise.
  • Continue running to extend the distance achieved.

What attracts players?

After a few rounds, I realized that looking ahead is much more important than just focusing on the character. High scorers often anticipate situations early instead of reacting when obstacles are right in front of them.

Robber Run's graphics aren't overly elaborate. The sound isn't the most outstanding element either. However, the game still has its own way of keeping players engaged. Perhaps it's the fast pace, or perhaps it's the constant urge to break the record just set.

Conclusion

If you're looking for a game you can play right away without spending too much time getting used to it, Robber Run is a pretty good choice. It's not complicated, not drawn out, just a simple, continuous chase with many unexpected situations along the way.
